Responding to the increase of violence against Jews in New York, across the country, and around the world, the Tri-City Interfaith Council issued this statement:
It is troubling that we must, once again, speak out against hatred and violence. It is disturbing that we must, once again, condemn acts of violence based on bigotry and prejudice. It is heartbreaking that we must, once again, state clearly that anti-Semitism has no place in our community nor anywhere in our country. Recent events show us that these statements are needed, and so we join with other interfaith organizations across our country, including the Interfaith Alliance and the Interfaith Council of Alameda County, in condemning the rising acts of violence against Jewish people in New York, in the United States, and across the world.
To be clear, it is unacceptable when acts of hatred and violence take place against any person, regardless of their identity. We believe that we are all siblings in one human family and that harm committed against any one of us, hurts all of us. We stand united against hate.
The Tri-City Interfaith Council calls on the Tri-Cities of Fremont, Newark, and Union City to come together in our common values of compassion and acceptance and in our diversity of faiths and racial/ethnic backgrounds to make sure there is no room for hate here.
